The Mexican Suitcase
The New York Times reported today on the front page of the Arts section about 126 Rolls of previously unseen work by Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour during the Spanish Civil War that the ICP has uncovered and scanned for preservation. According to Cynthia Young, the newly discovered work has provided “a much deeper understanding of how Capa, Taro and Chim worked during the relatively brief period in which they were collectively creating the archetype of the modern war photographer.” A pretty exciting find and also an interesting story how the previously thought lost negatives made their way into a cardboard box in Mexico to begin with. You can see a selection of the images here.
